Things to consider when choosing a domain name

Although you may find some domain names can be upto 63 characters, you must keep in mind that it needs to be memorable, and easily typed into their browser. It is best to try and register a short name that you, your customers and visitors will associate to your website.

It is best to register your domain NOW, otherwise you risk getting stuck with "not-the-one-i-wanted.com". You don't have to have a website, an e-commerce department or a web design consultant. Just register the name you want as soon as you can, otherwise you may lose the opportunity to do so.

It is possible one domain is not enough, it can be a good idea to register several similar domain names - especially if you own the trademark for a certain name. If you have the domain "mydomain.com", register "mydomain.co.uk" so no one else can register it. You can also register your a domain with your full company name, as well as a short easier to remember version, it is also known for people to register misspellings of their company name. Just a reminder: domain names can only use letters, numbers, and dashes. Spaces and symbols are not allowed. Also, domain names are not case sensitive. Never Shell Out Large Amounts of £££, and always be wary of companies offering renewal reminders if they are not you ISP - there charges are often extortionate.
