Hello,

I'm using J 1.5 with SOBI2 component. Some weeks ago I changed the name of my main component so "ALL" my entries have a new URL now. Google doesn't seem to pick up my new structure so I thought this component might help me. But how???

http://www.kinderenkoning.be is my website. A new URL looks like www.kinderenkoning.be/index.php?/kindere...aurants/ripasso.html and a previous one looks like www.kinderenkoning.be/index.php?/sobi2/a...urants/ripasso.html. So I need to redirect /sobi2/activiteit to /kinderen and keep the rest of the URL.

I installed this component but now I've no clue what to do in fact? Where do I configure those commands of type {sbdredirect newwebpage} in which the help is talking about?

Can I use this component anyhow to solve my problem? I read in the help that the old page needs to exist but in my case it obviously disappeared.

Help would be greatly appreaciated!

Hi,

If the old pages still exist then you can use this plugin as too my knowlege as Sobi allows the use of plugins within its content. If the page does not exist anymore then unfortunately you cannot use this plugin, the only way to solve this problem is to use the .htaccess file and add redirects into this and point all your old pages to the new location. You can redirect whole directories or single files with redirect in the .htaccess so this is probably your best bet.

Hope this helps.

The old pages are not existing anymore on that URL as the full sobi2 component has been renamed and I changed category structure too.

So I guess I need to wait for Google to index it all again.

I appreciate your response!!

FYI: I can't use the .htaccess solution as I had a lot of issues with mod_rewrite in the past, so I use SEF404SH withut .htacess file.

Tx again

The only other way you maybe able to do it is to create fake pages within Joomla using Sections, Categories and Articles to recreate the old links (using sh404sef) and then using this plugin to redirect to the new urls.

Of course this is only feasible for a small number of links as its a manual process for each link....

Just another thought...

Or as your using sh404sef add in custom redirects from the old pages to the new, this is possible as your links start with index.php, this might be possible...
