We have a retail DVD with embedded hotlinks into our old Web site. Those links target .asp pages on the old site. We have now converted our site to Joomla and those linked .asp pages no longer exist anywhere.

I've read through the posts here but am still uncertain whether I can successfully use SBD 301 Redirect to have those now unchangeable DVD hotlinks bring the user to an active Joomla page on our site.

The key as I am seeing it is that there is nowhere for SBD 301 to place the code on the .asp page to trigger the 301 Redirect but I am by no means an expert here!!! Any thoughts or other suggestions very much appreciated!

Unfortunately our redirect plugin will not work unless you already have a page in Joomla you wish to redirect from.

If the domain is the same then if you have a SEF component installed like sh404sef then you can add the old urls against the new pages in the SEF component, this will then automatically redirect when an old link is used to the new page.

The other alternative is to make use of .htaccess files and manually add redirects from the old urls to the new pages.
