SBD Tables don't work in category pages! 4 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi again!

I enjoy using the SBD Nicer tables but i've noticed that if you open the category manager and try using the SBD NT there it won't show up.
Since i use tables in those pages i'd realy like to use SBD NT there aswell

Cheers

Hi,

Unfortunately you've hit a Joomla limitation (assuming your using Joomla 1.0.x), mambots only works in content areas and do not work in Sections or Categories.

Also to use this mambot you need to alter the table details, which is hard coded within the Joomla code, however it is possible to alter this code to enable the javascript/code to function.

I have altered the following page on this link, as you can see it does what is required: Demo page

I have attach my modified file to enable the highlighting option to work. To use it upload to the following directory (however remember to back up your original - and this file is from Joomla 1.0.13, I don't know what will happen if used on a previous version):

<joomla install>/components/com_content/

To alter the colours or to set it to use CSS tags you need to alter the code between lines 369 to 379.

Hope this is of some help.

Matthew

Thank you Matthew!

It's allways risky to modify the core files since you usually forget you've done it and then updates Joomla and things starts going wierd.
I have to weight the pros n cons for the category tables before i change things.. but thanks for making it possible.

Will this become easier in Joomla 1.5?

What i need most from Joomla is better group management.. but it seems it won't happen until Joomla 1.6
I need to have different groups which will have different menus and content, i'm trying JACL now and it allmost works... i just can't get the menus to hide/show content for each group... right now all groups can see eachothers menu items but can't access the others pages.

I fully understand about hacking core files, generally best avoided if possible as you do need to keep a close list of mods that you have made.

Unfortunately I don't know too much of Joomla 1.5, though soon will be installing it as another test system for our mambots/modules etc. And have no clue as whether this 'short coming' has been corrected.

Not sure about JACL as I have never used it, but what it looks like you need a menu system based upon its access controls rather than the default Joomla version, a rewritten version of the mod_mainmenu module which should be possible as they do have examples on there site on how to get JACL to work upon other components as well as just content.

Kind Regards

Matthew
