Hi,
It is possible to add different images to each top menu. You can do it via CSS, if you view the source code to the page and look for the Id of each top menu item - it'll look like id="sbd1", and add a background image to each menu item - adjusting height and width if needed.
The other way is with the latest version, this allows you in the parameters of the module to turn on an automatic image option. Depending upon which parameters you set it will work on all or parts of the menu, all you need to do is upload images to the directory you supply in the parameters. The image name is the same as the menu name (lowercase) with spaces replaced with -, so for example: Joomla Overview becomes joomla-overview with your desired file extension.
Hope this helps, if you want any further help please ask.

Hi,
The image path by default is set to: images/stories
This path is from the root of Joomla (i.e domainname.com/images/stories), and should hopefully work even if Joomla is installed to a sub directory of the main domain.
Using the default location you need to upload your menu images to directory /images/stories remembering that each file needs the same extension type as set in the parameters (i.e .jpg) and that you stick to the naming convention as mentioned above - lowercase only and replace spaces with -.
Hope this helps.
